Service Description

I know how difficult it can be to find a reliable tutor that focuses on high performing math students (i.e. Elementary & Highschool competitions) or University level math. I take a reliable approach in both cases: For University Level, my approach is as follows: I receive the student assigned homework questions at least prior to a Friday so that I can prepare accordingly and meet during an available day between Monday to Thursday (virtually or in person). I focus on completing assigned problems from the textbook with simplified approaches/steps/tricks that are consistent with the methods taught in class. I try to do at least 1 problem of every type per section or at least what may be the more important items to cover. In one hour, I usually get through 2 to 3 sections but it's also heavily dependent on student comfort of pacing which we should naturally establish within the first lesson. After those sessions, students usually feel more prepared and confident to tackle more of the homework problems on their own as they should. The overall effort is to have students be able to complete some or most of the homework problems successfully on their own because that will be be fundamental to their ability to succeed on the exam and pass the course. For High Performing/Competition math, my approach is follows: These individuals benefit from specialized evaluation, materials, timed assessments, training and proper coaching techniques in order for their full potential to be realized. As such, my sessions include coaching and challenging the student in unique ways, improving critical thinking and logic while learning common and advanced techniques for a given problem. The goal is to nurture their natural abilities and enjoyment of math while preparing them for competitions (if desired), and enabling their success in other specialized programs.
